Saint Basics is GOTS certified. This is a strict standard for the environment, labour, health and safety. All their clothing is also OEKO-TEX certified – meaning: free from harmful substances, no toxins on your skin. As icing on the cake, they are also the #1 sustainable basics brand at Rank A Brand, 7th year in a row since 2011!
A garment from Saint Basics finds its origin in the cotton fields around the Aegean Sea. This type of organic cotton has a long fiber. And the longer the fiber, the softer the fabric.
Another part of the production process begins in the forests of Ermelo in South Africa, where the trees for the brand’s eucalyptus products grow. The wood pulp of these trees are made into fibers in Austria, which are thereafter made into fabric. This fabric is feels super soft on the skin and is even kinder to the planet: the entire process is zero-waste and has even been awarded an EU prize for the environment!
These cotton and eucalyptus fibers then go through a clean, fair and social production chain in Portugal. There, the clothing is made with love by experienced craftsmen. Obviously, no sweatshops or child labour here. In the spinning mill, the fibers are spun into high-quality yarns, which in turn are knitted into super soft fabrics. They are dyed and printed with natural colors.
When the garments are ready, the products are transported by truck from Portugal to Saint Basics’ warehouse in the Netherlands. Because they produce within the EU, they can always choose the shortest possible route. The brand only sells online. No stores! With the money they save, they support charities and give back to the community.
