Shop our Ethical & Sustainable Fashion Runway from LA Climate Week

Karolina Karolina 12 Sep 2024 Shop our Ethical & Sustainable Fashion Runway from LA Climate Week

We're excited to announce our official launch in the United States this September! To mark this significant milestone, on September 10th, we hosted an exclusive event at Art Share LA in downtown Los Angeles, in collaboration with LA Climate Week, the F.A.K.E. Movement and the Plant Based Treaty.

The event featured a panel discussion on "Ethical Fashion Solutions for a Sustainable Future," followed by a Collective Fashion Runway showcasing 15 ethical brands available on our online department store.

Gentlemen & –women: shop the runway

Our guests witnessed the future of fashion unfold on the runway, and enjoyed a showcase of vegan and ethically-made collections curated by our sustainable fashion marketplace Shop Like You Give a Damn. These were the looks served (meet the brands and shop the items below!):

Meet Sentient

Sentient, founded by environmental lawyer and animal rights activist Jimena Suárez Ibarrola, is a brand dedicated to offering ethical alternatives to leather accessories. Ethically produced in Mexico and China, the brand ensures that their factories meet high ethical standards. Their innovative approach to sustainability includes using vegan materials like bamboo leather, cactus leather, mirum, and apple leather—all designed to provide stylish, eco-friendly options without compromising on quality. Sentient’s mission is to promote compassion and peace through fashion, making a positive impact on both people and animals.

Meet Neu Nomads & Blue District

Neu Nomads is a female-owned brand dedicated to creating beautiful, sustainable fashion for women. Their garments are crafted in family-owned factories in India and Portugal, with a production manager visiting the main Indian factory weekly to ensure ethical practices. The brand prides itself on using plant-based fabrics sourced from renewable resources, including GOTS-certified organic cotton, Tencel, and linen. Their commitment to sustainability extends to eco-friendly dyes and zero-waste packaging. Neu Nomads is more than just fashion; it's a celebration of women, by women, with a focus on style and sustainability.

Blue District, founded by entrepreneur Cici Voise, is committed to delivering high-quality, cruelty-free fashion at an affordable price. Their garments are ethically produced in a Gold WRAP-certified factory in China and in Los Angeles, ensuring fair and ethical practices. The brand uses 100% vegan materials, including a unique collection made from bamboo. Cici Voise, also the creator of Ethical Plumes—the first vegan alternative to ostrich feathers made from bamboo.Arsayo, a family-run brand with deep roots in animal rights activism, crafts their innovative products in BSCI-certified factories in China, as well as small family businesses in Portugal and Poland. They’ve visited these factories multiple times to ensure ethical practices.

Meet Trendsplant

Elephants, who doesn’t like them? Women, men and kids clothes that are trendy and affordable: Trendsplant was launched in 2009 in Spain and prioritizes the wellbeing of climate, people, and animals - with the Elephant as their mascot to strong, robust and long lasting clothing. They mainly use GOTS-certified organic cotton in their products, and the clothes are made under fair working conditions in Spain and Portugal in factories that are visited at least twice a year. In addition, Trendsplant partners with Retraced so their products and materials are traceable to their source!

Meet MoEa

French sneaker brand MoEa (as in: 'Mother Earth') was founded in 2020 by Achille, Benoit and Simon, who set out a mission to revolutionize the sneaker industry. MoEa creates stylish sneakers made from vegan, sustainable, recycled and mostly locally sourced materials. Most of the different vegan leather types are made from bio-waste: residue from the wine industry is transformed into grape leather, leftover apple skins from the juice industry are used for apple leather, and pineapple leaf fibers are turned into pineapple leather. While the soles are made in Spain, most of production takes place in Portugal where MoEa pays regular visits to their production facilities. With recycled rubber for the soles, recycled bamboo for the lining, and organic cotton laces, wearing your MoEa shoes feels like a sustainable party for your feet!

Meet Averie & NAGABA

Looking gorgeous in post-consumer recycled plastic is made possible by Averie, with their many, very chic bikini and swimsuit designs. This German swimwear brand is dedicated to look after our planet. Their swimwear is made with Econyl, a fabric made from recycled ocean plastic. The brand uses high-quality vegan materials sourced from Spain, Italy, Germany, and Poland, designed to mimic the characteristics of natural leather. NAGABA’s dedication to combining tradition with innovation makes them a standout in the world of sustainable footwear.
