Co-founder Erik has always wondered why around 90% of athletic apparel and sportswear contain polyester, nylon or another form of plastic. Each time you wash these materials, small amounts of plastic (microfibre) are released into the water, which eventually end up in the ocean. So he took matters in his own hands and started Iron Roots with two friends. Their athletic apparel is made from sustainable and high-quality natural materials such as hemp, lyocell and organic cotton. The natural fabrics each have unique properties such as being breathable, anti-bacterial and anti-static, which makes them great for different workouts. Their mission: offering a plastic-free alternative to sportswear, without compromising on design or functionality – and of course, making sure it’s all produced fairly. What’s not to love?
